Are computer games taking over from sport?

Published by yourbestgolfswing at 5:33 am under Your Golf Swing

In the last few years the gaming industry has grown immensly and it seems the problem with a lot of sports like golf and tennis is that you only watch them if you actually play the game. How close are the comuter games compared to the real sports? If you are trying to lose weight, does playing on a games console instead of playing the real thing really help? The real answer to this question is . . . perhaps.  Obviously if you are buying say a golf game for the 360 or PS3 it is not going to do anything apart from save you money on one of those electric golf trolleys.

The only real aspect of the golf game that you are going to lose out on if you were to purchase a computer game on the Wii is the waking part. To be fair most of the pro. Game developers are really keen to keep making the sporting games as realistic as possible and the Wii is able to take advantage especially from this using its motion control way of playing games. When you are playing games on the Wii like golf and tennis it really does feel like you are playing the real thing at certain moments, the same is true for all sports in which you use your hands. The brand new attachment for the Wii, out later this year, means that motion sensing technology is going to propel even more forward. This is going to mean that game devlopers are going to try even harder to make the games more realistic than ever before. So is this really having an affect on anything? It's a great way to save some pennies in the long run if you cant afford to go out and pay to play the sports. No need to even be dressed in your best golf gear to play golf on any of the consoles, a great idea.

Personally I love games, but I think that they should stick to making the games that people that play them like and leave the sporting ones out of it. It would be horrible to see a decline in people playing the sports that a lot of people love to watch due to computer games getting in the way which means there should be a limit to how real a sporting game should get.

So next time your stuck between going out in the rain for a round of golf or plugging in the Wii for a bit of a game, stop and think, the real thing is always better so charge up those golf batteries and get playing!
